Child sexual abuse is a worldwide public health issue. Child abuse, particularly child sexual abuse, is reprehensible—
especially when the wrongdoer is affiliated with the Church.
The VIRTUS® programs assist the Church in being a safe haven for children and a messenger for preventing child sexual abuse
within the Church and society in general.
All ministers of the church MUST attend a 3 hour VIRTUS® training workshop.
This training is open to all parents who would like to learn more about the warning signs of predators and how to keep their children safe.

If you attended a VIRTUS training in the year 2008 or prior, you must attend a Recertification Training. The Archdiocese of Los Angeles, together with the USCCB, mandates that the Safeguard the Children VIRTUS Training must be renewed every Four years.

Preregistration is required for all VIRTUS and VIRTUS Recertification Trainings.
Next VIRTUS training is Sat., Jan 28th from 9:00 am to 12 noon

In addition to VIRTUS training, all adult volunteers/ministers must be fingerprinted.
The next fingerprinting date to be held here at St. John Vianney is on
Wednesday, Jan. 25th from 12 noon to 3:40 pm and 5:20 to 7:20 pm
